Telecom Plus was established in 1996, initially operating from a pub in Henley-on-Thames. The company later achieved a listing on the London Stock Exchange and became a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. Utility Warehouse itself was founded in 2002 in Colindale, North London, with the aim of offering affordable energy, broadband, and telephone services to households across the UK.

The firm has since grown to become an award-winning multiservice provider, trusted by over one million customers. Utility Warehouse is regulated by key industry bodies, including Ofgem, Ofcom, and the Financial Conduct Authority. The company's core business model revolves around bundling essential home services into a single, consolidated monthly bill. These services typically include energy (gas and electricity), broadband, mobile telephony, landline, and home insurance.

This multiservice approach is designed to simplify household bill management for customers, aiming to save both time and money by replacing multiple individual utility accounts with one easy-to-understand statement. Utility Warehouse employs a distinctive word-of-mouth business model for customer acquisition, utilising a nationwide network of self-employed Partners.

These Partners act as licensed distributors, introducing new customers to the company's services. Partners earn commission for each new customer they sign up, and they continue to receive a monthly commission for as long as those customers remain with Utility Warehouse. This strategy eliminates the need for traditional advertising channels such as television or national press, allowing the company to grow its customer base through personal recommendations. The company provides dedicated training and ongoing support to its Partners, alongside access to major head office-supported events annually.
