Adrian Flux Insurance Services was established in 1973 by its founder, Adrian Flux, who encountered difficulties in securing appropriate insurance coverage for his own Spartan kit car due to a disability. Recognising a broader need for specialised insurance solutions, the company was founded with the objective of providing cover for vehicles and circumstances often deemed "uninsurable" by conventional insurers. This foundational principle aimed to offer personalised service to individuals with unique insurance requirements. Since its inception, Adrian Flux has developed into the United Kingdom's largest specialist motor insurance brokerage and an independent broker within the country.

The firm's head office is situated at East Winch Hall in King's Lynn, Norfolk. The company has expanded its operations significantly, now employing over 1,500 staff across various locations in the UK. This growth reflects its sustained presence and increasing capacity within the insurance sector over more than five decades. The company specialises in a diverse array of motor insurance products, catering to a wide spectrum of vehicles.

This includes classic, vintage, and heavily modified sports cars, as well as kit cars, 4x4s, imports, American cars, and performance vehicles. Adrian Flux also provides coverage for standard vehicles, motorhomes, vans, and pickups. In the 1990s, the firm introduced a specialist motorbike division, Bikesure, which offers policies for classic bikes, custom bikes, motorbikes, quad bikes, and superbikes. The company was also noted for launching what it described as the UK's first driverless car insurance policy in 2016.

Beyond motor insurance, Adrian Flux offers a range of other policies, including home and travel insurance. Its home insurance offerings are comprehensive, covering household properties, landlords, second homes, high-value residences, and non-standard homes such as listed buildings, those at flood risk, thatched properties, and wood-built homes. The firm's home insurance also extends to buy-to-let properties, which can include blocks of flats and student lets, as well as unoccupied homes and bed and breakfast establishments. Adrian Flux collaborates with a panel of over 40 UK underwriters to provide bespoke coverage options for varied property circumstances.

The company's operational philosophy centres on "Insurance for the Individual," aiming to tailor coverage to meet specific client needs. This approach is complemented by a corporate culture that values community and family, and prioritises the individual. Adrian Flux has implemented a flexible working policy for its employees, which contributed to the firm winning the 2023 UK Company Culture Award for Best Flexible Working Policy. Adrian Flux has expanded through strategic acquisitions, including Herts Insurance Consultants (rebranded as Sterling Insurance) in 2005 and Chartwell, a provider of insurance for disabled drivers, in 2010. The firm also engages in significant sponsorships within motorsport, supporting figures such as Jason Plato and Alex Brundle, and has been a title sponsor for various racing teams and events. These activities underscore the company's commitment to its specialist motoring roots and its broader engagement with the community.
